photography, mulimedia, qtvr, web development, and that sort of thing.

Thanks for visiting. I'm a photographer, teacher and web developer in Toronto, Canada. This site contains a few portfolio projects and some bio info. I've worked primarily in corporate communications, with a few editorial assignments here and there. I have a modest exhibition history and some of those portfolios are shown here. I'm also involved in two development projects overseas and there's some information about those projects here as well.
Feel free to contact me about anything you see on this site, or about current affairs in general.

new SFC project in India

This isn't my project specifically, but I'm a director at Fogquest and this image came in today - wanted to share this with everyone. Here's the press release text:
FogQuest is assisting an Indian NGO called SOCIOserve to begin a fog collection evaluation in the mountains of Tamil Nadu where one SFC is now in Anavattan, which is a region just on the periphery of Poombarai. Poombarai is a small village close to Kodaikanal. It is at an elevation of about 2200 m in the center of the southern part of the Indian sub-continent. Mesh has been sent to them for the construction of the SFCs and general guidance for the measurement program has been provided.
F.O.S.T. video
I recently put this brief clip together of the process of making briquettes, featuring the pioneer of this technology, Sanu Shresta at FOST. Sanu is my project partner in building fog collectors. This briquette process is now being introduced into eastern Nepal through NCDC. I shot this video back in 2008 and since then our relationship has grown. He was one the finalists in the 2007 BCC World Challenge Awards, and keeps this small operation in Nepal going through deep dedication and enduring belief in the value of small scale, sustainable solutions to infrastructure problems in the developing world.
Swyambunath project

Monks at Swyambunath Temple, Kathmandu Nepal May 2011
In May I had the opportunity to do another Nepal trip where I continued work on the Swyambunath Monks project. Everything went very well. I'm now working on putting together a sample book of the project. It will be a collaboration with Byron Bignell, who also completed a portfolio of the temple. I'll post more of the project here as it gets closer to being finished.
The day to day projects continue. Recent contracts include web devlopment for the Blue Mountain Tour of the Arts and ongoing updates for triangle studios. Teaching at Sheridan and George Brown College have started up again.
My work with NCDF and FogQuest is moving along well. NCDF is collaborating with Engineers Without Borders and the Engineering for Developing Countries department at The University of Colorado at Boulder. Their newsletter is available here. I maintain a small blog where I post some of the new images from the Nepal projects. This was recently updated.

FogQuest has a full roster of projects in operation and in development. I'm still working on a new collector with FOST (Foundation for Sustainable Development) (see video above) in Nepal. I'm hoping to have an operational prototype in the spring of 2012.
My best wishes to all as always, and thanks for visiting.
